When I was very young
My name is Taylor Siron. I grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma with my mom, a nurse; my dad, co-owner of Sun Custom Homes; my older sister, Amanda, an artist; and my younger sister, Cheyenne, who is attending University of Central Oklahoma to become a lower elementary school teacher. I spent my years before I was a teacher waiting tables at restaurants like Red Robin and P.F. Changs, as well as being a manager at movie theaters, including Regal Lloyd Mall, Fox Tower, and Pioneer Square.

School and Teaching
I earned my Bachelor of the Arts at San Francisco State University in 2011, and my Master in the Art of Teaching from Lewis and Clark College in 2013.
I student taught at Rex Putnam High School in the North Clackamas School District. I worked with freshman and IB Seniors covering topics including Speak, memior writing, Romeo and Juliet, Smoke Signals, journalism, Death of a Salesman, and an album study of Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen.
The 2016-2017 school year will be my 4th at Twality Middle School. I spent two years working with 7th graders and am now teaching 8th grade English Language Arts. We focus on the close reading of literature and non-fiction as well as academic language and writing.

For Fun
When I am not at Twality I am with my husband at our home in Aloha. I met my husband, Elijah, in grad school at Lewis and Clark. He currently teaches 7th grade humanities at West Sylvan Middle School in PPS. We have a tabby cat named Swarley, a tuxedo cat named Desmond, a Chiweenie named Amelia, and a terrier mix named Jefferson at home with us. We have to vacuum the floors very often! In our free time we walk the dogs, watch movies, watch Jeopardy! every day, enjoy many different TV shows, read books, and work on our house. |
